Submissions now open for the fifth annual Jon Kaplan Legacy Fund Awards

The Jon Kaplan Legacy Fund was established in 2018 to continue Jon’s work by providing encouragement and financial support to theatre makers. Thanks to the generosity of those who knew and loved him, the Fund remains active in the community, providing financial assistance to local independent theatre artists and companies, and supporting emerging arts writers and artists through our work with the Toronto Fringe Festival, the Paprika Festival, and the wider Toronto theatre community.

For the fifth year in a row, the JKLF is giving out three awards to theatre artists:

  • $2,500 for a graduating student from a post-secondary Canadian theatre school;
  • $5,000 for a young Canadian playwright;
  • $5,000 for a Canadian stage performer.

Submissions are open now for the JKLF playwright and performer awards. We call on you to nominate a deserving actor, apply as a playwright, and/or share the word with your networks!

We’re pleased to share that this year’s partner program for the Graduating Student award is Theatre and Drama Studies at Sheridan College and the University of Toronto at Mississauga.
